Computer Vision Assignments – Aerial Image Analysis

• Implemented multimodal image registration: used mutual information to estimate rotation-translation transforms via numerical optimization.
• Applied a Bag-of-Visual-Words approach: built a vocabulary via K-Means from SIFT descriptors, then represented each image as a visual vector, reaching in classification 0.732 F1 and 0.975 AUC.
• Designed a custom residual CNN (no pretrained backbone) and compared pretraining + fine-tuning versus training from scratch, improving accuracy 18% over the BoVW baseline to 0.889 F1.
